Mevaseret Zion (Hebrew: מבשרת ציון, literally herald of Zion) is a town (local council) in Israel. It is a suburb of Jerusalem overlooking Highway 1, the principal route connecting Jerusalem to Tel Aviv.
The council and its name are originally a combination of Mevaseret Yerushalayim and Maoz Zion. The central and newer region of Mevaseret Zion, however, was never part of either of these towns. In this area the Harel Mall can be found.
Mevaseret Zion is also the site of the Embassies of Paraguay and Bolivia.
The Castel Mountain (Al-Qastal) in Maoz Zion and the routes along it were the focus of major battles in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
