Metropolitan Community College (Omaha)

Metropolitan Community College (Metro) is a public community college located in Omaha, Nebraska that serves residents of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. Metro was founded in 1974 when the Nebraska State Legislature consolidated the state's eight technical community college areas into six. The college system was originally named the Metropolitan Technical Community College Area, and was renamed the Metropolitan Community College Area in 1992. Metro has campuses in North Omaha, South Omaha, and Elkhorn, and centers in La Vista and Fremont. As of 2004, Metro had an annual enrollment of over 26,000 credit students and over 17,000 non-credit students.
