Metroad 8
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Metroad system in Sydney uses numbers 1-10 inside a blue-bordered hexagon, with the exception of motorway or freeway parts where the simple M#, where # is a number between 1-10, inside a white-bordered green rectangle. The only exception to the numbering is the number 8. The Metroad 8 is unused and many believe the designation should go to the part of the Cumberland Highway that lost its' Metroad 7 status to the Westlink M7 (beyond the current section of Pennant Hills Road that is covered by Metroad 6 through to the Hume Highway down through Liverpool), but it has been reserved for future use. Some believe the proposed Marrickville Tunnel or the proposed North West Freeway or even the proposed freeway in Southern Sydney may receive the Metroad 8 designation.
