Metro Transport Sydney is a privately-owned company providing light rail and monorail services to the inner suburbs of Sydney, Australia. The assets of Metro Transport were originally owned by Connex (now Veolia NSW). The company is now private: its shareholders are Utilities Trust of Australia, Australian Infrastructure Fund and Colonial First State Investments. Management of the company's rail services is contracted out to Veolia.
The chief executive of Metro Transport is Kevin Warrell.
Metro operates a light rail service, Metro Light Rail connecting Central Railway Station with Chinatown, Darling Harbour, Star City Casino and the inner-western suburbs of Pyrmont, Glebe and Lilyfield. The company is actively lobbying the Government of New South Wales in support of the extension of this network to cover the central business district, Leichhardt and the Eastern Suburbs.
Metro also operates Metro Monorail, a 3.8-kilometre loop connecting Darling Harbour and the city centre.
