MetroTech Center

MetroTech Center is a business and educational center in Downtown Brooklyn, New York City.
Noted occupants of this area include JPMorgan Chase , FDNY Headquarters, Bear Stearns, Keyspan Energy and Polytechnic University. Marriott Hotel is one of the new additions to the area. MetroTech Center is very close to Brooklyn's Civic center (Borough Hall, Courts) and Brooklyn Heights. Polytechnic University is one of MetroTech's founding members.

Metro Tech Center is a pedestrian-only area, with a commons in the middle. Metro Tech was formed in 1992 by making a rectangle bounded by Jay Street, Johnson Street, Flatbush Avenue, and Myrtle Avenue - walk only.
As a consequence, the North ends of Lawrence and Duffield streets were also freed from traffic.
Metro Tech Commons is a small rectangle of greenery, bounded by Lawrence and Duffield Streets, and located in the middle of metro tech.

Metro Tech commons are frequently adorned by some modern art exhibits. And every summer there are weekly concerts given on metrotech commons. During Christmas, lights and garlands overhang all the trees and light poles at metrotech.
