Metal dome, it has two different meaning.

1)A dome, or you can say round roof, which is made of metal(steel), used in building industry, funcion as either safeguard to the building or decoration. Generall the material including steel, glass, and other complex-material, transparent or semi-transparent.

2)A small dome made of stainless steel, is momentary switch contacts that, when used in conjunction with a printed circuit board, flex circuit, or membrane, become normally-open tactile switches. You can also have Au, Ag or Ni plating on the single or both sides of metal domes, in order to give a low contact resistance. Click here to view a real metal dome .
