Mestre Barba Branca

Mestre Barba Branca (born Gilberto Reis) is a mestre (a master practitioner) of the Afro-Brazilian martial art Capoeira.
Barba Branca started Capoeira Angola at the age of 13 in the Salvador de Bahia famous area of Libertade, with Mestre Traira. After Mestre Traira's death, Barba Branca joined the famous academy of Mestre Joao Pequeno where he remained and taught as Treinel and Contramestre for more than 15 years before becoming a mestre himself.
In 1991 Mestre Barba Branca created his own academy : Grupo de Capoeira Angola Cabula, in the area of Salvador de Bahia called Cabula. Since the year 2000 Mestre Barba Branca developed his academy in Europe, especially in France where he titled his fist french Treinel as instructor : Treinel Tigrão.
