Meryl Getline

Meryl Getline is a retired United Airlines pilot. She was the first American woman to earn a captain's rating on the DC-10. She has written several books based on her experiences as a pilot, and from 2004-2006 she had a column in USA Today called "Ask the Captain" where she answered questions about air travel. As of 2006 she is a regular contributor to Executive Travel magazine, and has written for a number of other publications - Christian Science Monitor, Road & Travel, and others. She has also made appearances on news shows such as ABC's News Now to discuss her career and issues facing women in aviation.
