Merriwa is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. Its postcode is 6030. The suburb was proposed to be named "Hester" after an early land owner, but was changed because of duplication to an Aboriginal word meaning "a good place" in 1980.[2] Bordered to the north by the Lukin Drive right-of-way, to the south by Hester Avenue, to the east by Connolly Drive, and to the west by Marmion Avenue, it has been extensively developed since the 1990's.[3] Two RAAFA retirement estates are located within the suburb, as are two schools: Merriwa Primary School and Kingsway Christian College.
