Merlin (charity)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Merlin (an acronym for '"Medical Emergency Relief, International"') is the only specialist UK charity which responds worldwide with vital health care and medical relief for vulnerable people caught up in natural disasters, conflict, disease and health system collapse.

They are a mini British version of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), but focus a bit more on project work.

They are also strictly apolitical; an example of this is that in 1996/7, during the (successful) Taliban invasion of Afghanistan, Merlin worked on both sides of the frontier.

Even though Merlin is small they're active in many nations and make a real difference.
