Mentone Grammar School (formerly Mentone Boys' Grammar School) is an independent grammar school in Mentone, Melbourne. The school was founded in 1923, and up until 2006 Mentone Grammar was a boys-only school. The school announced its co-educational intent in July 2005. The School has adopted an untested parallel learning approach, where boys and girls are together from Kindergarten-Grade 5 and from Grade 5-Year 9 the two are separate, and in the VCE years, Years 10-12, there are mixed classes again. The school was once the best boys school in the area. Despite drastically changing its educational philosophy, the school still manages to maintain its old educational standards. The co-ed controversy resulted in the formaition of the MGSPA - Mentone Grammar Schools Parents Association. The choice to go co-educational also meant changes for its sister school, [Mentone Girls Grammar]. Mentone Grammar is located on Venice Street in the Melbourne Bayside suburb of Mentone.
