Mendota Heights is a city in Dakota County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 11,434 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 26.1 km² (10.1 mi²). 24.2 km² (9.4 mi²) of it is land and 1.8 km² (0.7 mi²) of it (7.05%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 11,434 people, 4,178 households, and 3,237 families residing in the city. The population density was 471.7/km² (1,222.2/mi²). There were 4,252 housing units at an average density of 175.4/km² (454.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.66% White, 0.88% African American, 0.17% Native American, 1.78% Asian, 0.46% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.78% of the population.

There were 4,178 households out of which 36.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.5% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.5% were non-families. 18.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.14.

In the city the population was spread out with 27.6% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 29.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 92.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $81,155, and the median income for a family was $93,544. Males had a median income of $61,095 versus $41,208 for females. The per capita income for the city was $39,407. About 1.3% of families and 1.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 0.9% of those under age 18 and 2.0% of those age 65 or over.

[edit] The Cherry Hill Rd. Area

The Cherry Hill Rd. Area is a neighborhood in Mendota Heights. It was once mostly meadow, but was turned into a suburb by Hever Co. It is a friendly neighborhood where most people know each other. There is a large hill called Cherry Hill (Hence the name) that leads up to Wentworth Park. Wentworth Park contains a tennis court, a baseball field and a play equipment area. It also contains a pond inhabited by frogs, turtles and ducks and is near a woods.
