Melosa is a fictional character created for the cult television program, Xena: Warrior Princess. The Amazon character is played by actress Alison Bruce.
[edit] Character history
It isn't known exactly how long Melosa reigned as queen. It is known that Melosa is not the only Amazon queen as the Amazon Nation was splintered into several tribes throughout Greece, each tribe bearing a queen of its own. Melosa does prove to be a fair and strong ruler over her tribe, though, and holds much respect. She and her sister Terreis help rule the Amazons. At some point in time, Melosa adopted the Amazon Velasca as a daughter, and as such she became heir to the throne as well. Velasca proves to be power hungry, though, and she eventually challenges Melosa to a duel for the role as Amazon Queen. Velasca loses and leaves the tribe to become a rogue warrior. Later during the Battle of the Hooves and the Harlots, her sister Terreis is shot by an arrow. Before she dies, Terreis gives Gabrielle her "Right of Caste". This means that Gabrielle is, by tradition, the next in line to rule over that tribe of Amazons in Terreis' place. As the new second-in-command, Melosa helps prepare Gabrielle for her new royal station. Melosa eventually forms a truce with the rival Centaurs and divides the land over which they previously had fought. Unfortunately, Velasca returns to the tribe after many years away and again challenges Melosa to a battle, this time ending with Melosa's death.
[edit] Powers & Abilities
Melosa is a trained Amazon warrior and an expert in hand-to-hand combat, as well as a wide variety of hand held weapons.
