Melody of Love

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Melody of Love" is a popular song.

The music was written by Hans Engelmann in 1903. The lyrics were added by Tom Glazer in 1954.

An instrumental version recorded by Billy Vaughn reached #2 on the Billboard magazine charts in 1955. Other charting versions in 1955 were by The Four Aces (# 3), by David Carroll (#8), by Frank Sinatra and Ray Anthony (# 19), and by Leo Diamond (# 30). In 1957 a version by The Ames Brothers charted at # 5.

With so many versions, the Cash Box magazine chart (which always combined all versions of a song) naturally had a much higher standing for the song than Billboard, and the song was a #1 hit for 7 weeks there.
