Melody Thornton (born September 28, 1984) is an American singer/dancer. She takes the most prominent vocal role in The Pussycat Dolls, after lead vocalist Nicole Scherzinger, adding melismatic vocal runs to many of their songs. She is the youngest of all the current members of the group.

[edit] Rise to stardom

Melody was born in Phoenix, Arizona to a Mexican mother and African American father. Her talent was first discovered at an elementary school talent show when she sang "Without You".

She left high school and saw the Pussycat Dolls on MTV and heard they were auditioning for a new group member. Melody went to the audition and was welcomed aboard in December 2003. As with the other Dolls, she is a salaried employee of Interscope Records. Her "doll name" is Baby Doll (as she is the youngest member of The Pussycat Dolls). [citation needed]

[edit] Future Plans

In mid-July 2006 Melody publicly announced that she plans to begin a solo career. She is featured on a track (Go Too Far) from rapper Jibbs debut album Jibbs feat. Jibbs, due out in October 2006.
