Megion

Megion (Russian: Мегион) is a town in Nizhnevartovsky District of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia, situated near the Ob River.
Population: 46,566 (2002 Census).
There was a mention of it in 1810. In 1961, the first oil in Western Siberia was struck there. Now it is a centre of the oil and natural gas industries.
