Megan McTavish

Megan McTavish (born April 30, 1949 in Pembroke, New Hampshire) is an American soap opera writer, most known for her head writing stints on All My Children. Before writing for the soaps, she was a popular stage actress heaquartered in Chicago. Notably she played Penelope in the National Radio Theater's Peabody Award-winning radio dramatization of Homer's Odyssey (1980). Later, she played Lola Fontaine on Guiding Light from 1983 to 1984.
Starting as a writer on the Procter and Gamble Productions's Texas, she was also a writer for the company's Guiding Light. She helmed All My Children from 1992 to 1995 and from 1997 to 1999. Her first stint was critically lauded, using characters and storylines that hearkened back to the show's golden era in the late 1970s and 1980s. McTavish was fired from AMC, then wrote Guiding Light from 1995 to 1997. She was fired from AMC for a second time, then went to One Life To Live, which she wrote from 1999 to 2001.
