[edit] Meeting

The meeting which was being planned at Wikipedia:Mediation Committee/Committee meeting would still be useful, and as far as I know never took place on the proposed dates. Are there any suggestions for a new date? Angela. 00:45, Jan 25, 2005 (UTC)

no, it didn't take place - I'm afraid I never finished arranging it. Perhaps someone still on the committee can take over. If the current committee wants to allow ex-members to join the meeting then I would be interested in attending, but understand of course if you would prefer keep it to current members -- sannse (talk)
I recommend this Saturday. How do people feel about that? Danny 23:42, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I will probably be out of town on Saturday. I'm not an active member of the Committee, so that might not be so important, but still, I will likely miss it. Tuf-Kat 00:56, Jan 26, 2005 (UTC)
I'm ok with anything other than Feb 5. Angela. 02:33, Jan 28, 2005 (UTC)
I'll do my darnedest to make any time before Feb 11. After that, I'm afraid I'll be out of contact for a while while I move interstate. Ambi 10:21, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I can't make any meetings until 2 Feb because I'm still in Europe. After 2 Feb, I would prefer times after 5pm EST, but may be available other times. --Improv 23:33, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I should be available most any time before Feb 17th. Andre (talk) 08:01, Jan 30, 2005 (UTC)
I do not currently have access to IRC, although I can try to put something together. A Saturday (not the 12th) or a Sunday would be preferable. I work 7:00-3:00 PST weekdays, although midwinter break will come along in a few weeks (though hopefully we can meet before then). Jwrosenzweig 20:33, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I don't have IRC either. Can't we use e-mail with cc's? Or I could set up a private mediation-committe mailing list on Yahoo Groups (I just learned how to do this last month).

Or how about a conference call? Half a dozen people can easily conduct a conversation that way (more than 6 or 7 requires a facilitator or meeting chairman).

What's to discuss, anyway? Have I missed anything while I was on vacation? --user:Ed Poor|Uncle Ed (talk) 15:21, Feb 2, 2005 (UTC)

I would personally strongly prefer IRC because it's easier to keep track of the conversation and to remember who is talking. Text is more clear, I think, than voice. --Improv 20:04, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I've decided to take the initiative to make sure this happens, rain or fall. Please see My note that I sent out to make sure this meeting actually happens. Please respond by next monday. --Improv 17:52, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hiya.

A mailing list was set up for the mediation committee : http://mail.wikipedia.org/mailman/listinfo/mediation-en-l

Due to the absence of opposition and support for jwro, I would gladly consider he is now the chair (and being bold, I think I'll make it so on the page).

I think jwro needs to be the moderator of this list and registration accepted only with approval from the moderator (to the contrary of our other lists which approve joiners by default).

The meeting will be this friday, 11 Feb 2005, on irc.freenode.net, channel #en.medcom at 15:00 EST (20:00 UTC). Do your best to be there! --Improv 17:27, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Damnit. Feb 12 (which is what it'll be here) is moving day, so I'm out. Hope it goes well, though. Ambi 21:23, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I work during the day and will not be able to attend either. I think this is unfortunate, because I am a member of the Mediation Committee and did at once point co-chair it. I think that rather than picking a time and sticking to it come hell or high water, we try to find a time that is suitable to as many members as possible. I think we should also consider how to make it possible for Ambi to come. Please reconsider the date, in the spirit of mediation. Danny 22:34, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Danny has a point, and if this is possible, it would be much appreciated. However, I also acknowledge the difficulty we've had so far in finding an appropriate time, and any meeting is better than no meeting. Ambi 23:54, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
While I can be at the meeting, I think that Danny and Ambi make good points -- I think we can wait until we can all make it considering how long it's been. Thanks, BCorr|Брайен 00:54, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Fie!

I wasnt going to make it either. Theres got to be a better way to do this - since the quorum is small - someone has to message everyone, and figure out the best time, and offer some choices. Template:Mediation-meeting Wikipedia:Mediation meeting- -==SV 20:50, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

  • I did exactly that, set a time limit, and decided when the meeting would be based on all the feedback I recieved. Unfortunately, now it's back up in the air again. *sigh* As an added minus, I was trying to get Jimbo to come, and the new attempts to pick a time don't fit what I got from him from his schedule. --Improv 06:23, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 1200 UTC?

Really? You want people from the US to show up at 4-7 AM? --Dante Alighieri | Talk 22:13, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)

No, but then again, meeting is kind of an oxymoron in a world context. The only reasons for asking for peoples preffered local times 1. small number of meetiators - assumption that there might be some hemispheric bias that could be centralizing 2. interest in being considerate of feedback 3. interest in the systems by which most convenient times are set. This did not take into account busy busy schedules, though. Without giving up on any of the above, the apparently the monolithic, set a time by dictation may be just as good as some imaginary ideal. :) -==SV 22:26, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)
