[edit] Alofferman

I went to edit the entry on Darth Vader under the section "A New Hope". There is a picture there with Vader on the Tantive IV with the 501st. I tried to edit the text under the image to read as much, but MIB keeps changing it back to just say "a group of Stormtroopers" rather than the 501st arguing that the 501st is only mentioned in one video game and never in the movie. I find this hypocritical because the Tantive IV is never mentioned in any movie by name either. It should either read that it is the 501st on the Tantive IV or a group of stormtroopers on a ship.

Also, my boyfriend created an article with details on the bionic hands that Anakin and Luke Skywalker both had. MIB then went and deleted all the text from the article and re-routed it to a generalized article. I feel the article on the bionic hand is legitment and revelvent because it's about a specific part, not just any bio enhancment in sci-fi. If he really felt it was excessive to have it as it's own page he should have suggested it be merged into the already exsisting article and let people vote on it. I feel that the only reason he deleted this article and re-routed it is because he's unhappy about the other dispute we are having. Even if he's unhappy it's still an inappropriate action for wiki. This wiki is supposed to be a group effort, not one man going about saying what can and cannot be on it.

The name of the Tantive IV is mentioned in the novelization of the movie. That said, I wouldn't mind changing it to "Princess Leia's ship" one bit. I really don't think we should be handling retcons in the middle of a plot summary.

As for the Bionic Hand, it was essentially identical to the Star Wars section in Prosthetics in fiction, save for some unnecessarily-detailed plot summary, so I redirected it, as I typically do when I spot dupe content. Nothing was deleted insofar as the page history is still there; I just replaced it with a redirect.

As for the supposed grudge, I honestly can't recall ever having interacted with you before, unless you have another username or something. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 19:13, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Mediator Comment On the note about the Darth Vader Article, as a neutral editor I would like to point out that Star Wars Canon includes the EU so Tantive IV would be to correct name of the Ship vy Canon standards. So I believe that adding in the proper name as approved by Lucas (he (or at least some one in LucasFilms) approves all EU related plot details.) would be a correct move. The same also applies to the 501st which is established in the same manner both in EU and in the Star Wars insider the Magazine produced by LucasFils LTD. Please note that I'm not taking any side here just pointing out how Star Wars canon policy works. Æon Insane Ward 14:16, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

This project isn't about recreating the Holocron, though; it's about describing this real world that we live in. How can we ever describe the development of Darth Vader as a fictional construct (as opposed to a person that livs in a fictional world) if we're constantly leaning out to talk about minor retcons written in 15 years later?

Something I've been arguing for on Talk:Darth Vader for a while now is the use of a real-world chronology (and, to a lesser extent, dealing with important non-canon works as well as canon ones); while I'm largely indifferent to whether the Tantive IV is mentioned or not (as it's not an important detail in any case), it's a detail that is established in 1977, rather than a detail established in Battlefront, released in...2004, I think. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 14:21, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Mediator Comment While I see your point (and I agree we are not the Holocron or Wookiepedia), I have to disagree again as a neutral editor, That in order to have the proper coverage details such as these would be a good thing to have (Not all but relvent mnior details such as these). Also I believe that Tantive IV was mentioned in the Revenge of the Sith Novel and several issues in the Star War Insidder (Published in 2005) so it is also a recent detail. Again just putting out information to be considered. Æon Insane Ward 14:26, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Whoa, I'm not proposing discarding the recent details. I'm proposing placing them in the proper order and context. The place to talk about the 501st would be with other details from the last couple of years. Wikipedia should certainly mention the significant retcons, but in the proper context; in this case, among the backstory and background details retconned by ROTS and its contemporary EU works. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 14:32, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Mediator Comment That would be an interresting way to put it (think you misunderstood my comment a little, never said you were disreguarding any thing just putting out so info.) will have to see what Alofferman says to that idea. Might not be such a bad thing to do it that way (Both sides would then basicly get what they want). Æon Insane Ward 14:38, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MIB

I redirected Bionic Hand to a page that, in my fuzzy memory, already covered the subject. Turns out it was the wrong page, so I've since fixed the redirect. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 10:59, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
