Drini (talk • contribs) I want to contribute to improve the atmosphere of wikipedia. I'm known to be firm, but I try (and I believe I achieve it) to never be uncivil. Given that I keep my head cool in the midst of the heat, I'm willing to listen parties and help wikipedia with mediations -- ( drini's page ☎ ) 05:34, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

- Strong support: I believe drini has both the personality and the experience for successful medation. A long history of good work is good enough for me. Essjay Talk • Contact 07:07, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Neutral for now, as always.Have you ever been involved in informal Wiki-mediation, and if so, where? Ral315 (talk) 06:16, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

- Informally being "a meditatior", I don't think so, I'd say no, although I've been part on an RFAr already: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Rktect/Evidence but that won't count either since I was part, not mediator. -- ( drini's page ☎ ) 07:21, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Comment/Suggestion: I have a proposal, it's one I've been considering for a while. I'd like to encourage all individuals who would like to join the committee to take an active request and mediate it. That will allow us to see how they do, and will allow them to see what we do. I encourage Drini to pick out one of the active mediations that does not have a mediator assigned and volunteer to mediate it. This helps us tremendously, as we are up to our ears in cases, and gives the nominee the opportunity to see firsthand what mediation is like. Essjay Talk • Contact 05:28, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

Well, here's the report of my mediation attempt. Regarding Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero between User:SqueakBox and User:Zapatancas. It must be noted that Zapatancas can not get online often, so this mediation went much slower than it should (for instance Zapatancas made only 5 edits in march after the mediation started).
- The original request is here: Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero/request.
- Since the original request wasn't clear about what the mediation issue was, I clear the table asking them to state what th issues were: [1] (9 March 2006
- One party said he thought no issue needed mediation ([2] 10 march)
- A week later the other party finally added his comments ([3]17 march) which quickly led to the same posting of accusations [4]
- So when I got back monday, I still had no idea what the mediation issue, so I cleaned the table again explaining what mediation was[5] (march 20)
- A couple of days later finally the quid of the issue surfaced, it is a dispute over spelling: [6] but now the other guy doesn't want to pursue mediation: [7] later, accusations galore: [8]
- So far I've reached the conclusion that even though the problem was the spelling of some words, there's no really an interest to find common grounds, they both seem to want somebody to force the other side to concede and apologize, so I expressed my concerns [9]
- Afterwards a few comments from SqueakBox [10] (23 march)
(recall the other guy doens't get online often) and then I today found that when Zapatancas finally went online, it was for more aggresivity and filing an RFAr (april1, april 3): [11] [12] and [13] so I can safely assume one party is no longer interested in mediation (and given this was moving quite slow) I went ahead and closed it. -- ( drini's page ☎ ) 23:42, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
