[edit] Request Information

Request made by: Jcwf 22:57, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Where is the issue taking place?
Global city
Who's involved?
Darn.. whatshisname Elk something (see talk page of global city) Elk Salmon
What's going on?
The page is heavily biased (actually monopolized) to a particular classification scheme from one particular group of researchers (Loughborough). Any attempt to voice critique is pushed aside as: that's your opinion. NPOV or non-balanced templates are simply removed. Changes in the text are reverted forthwith.
What would you like to change about that?
I think it should be possble to say at least that the approach followed is not the only one thinkable. My critique is e.g. that cities that grew together from multiple nuclei like so many conglomerations (e.g. the Randstad in the Netherlands from Amsterdam/ the Hague/ Rotterdam or the NC Triangle Raleigh/Durham/Cary/Chapel Hill) are treated as separate cities which distorts the whole ranking. It should at least be possible to put something in about that.
Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
if you must: jcfolmer at ncsu.edu

I must admit I am doing this request reluctantly: global cities are not something I feel very strongly about, but I don't think that what is going on on that page is kosher.

[edit] Mediator response

I am making comments at Talk:Global city but am not officially taking on this case. --Ideogram 09:02, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

The disputants are ignoring my requests to stop edit warring. This case is likely not amenable to informal mediation. --Ideogram 02:04, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Agree. Please see WP:MC. -- Nathannoblet 06:58, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Compromise offers

This section is for listing and discussing compromise offers.

The article should strictly follow sources to professional researches and should not be based on the personal feelings of any wikipedians. Elk Salmon 08:00, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
