[edit] Name?
Why is it plural? Compare Mediterranean tropical cyclones to South Atlantic tropical cyclone or Atlantic hurricane. Jdorje 00:41, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Don't mind the change. Hurricanehink 01:29, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Vince
So if this 1992 hurricane struck Spain, then Vince wasn't the first tropical system to do so... Jdorje 00:43, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- True, but this 1992 hurricane wasn't officially a storm, albeit its awesome organization. It looked like a hurricane, not a tropical storm or depression, hit Spain! I found those storms by accident. I meant to look for Tropical Storm Danielle off the coast of Virginia, and those 2 1992 storms were found by accident when I clicked on the Meteosat image. [edit] More Storms
Should they be added or not? I am currently looking through every September, starting with 1995 and currently at 1997 (I am doing every other day, so hopefully I didn't miss any). Some of these storms appear to be unknown across the world, which is always good with me! Hurricanehink 01:29, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Probably should go through August as well, as I quickly found one for 1998. I'll do it over the weekend. Got up through 2000. Hurricanehink 02:30, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

- Not to put a damper on your efforts, but isn't this original research? Jdorje 03:30, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

- Damn it! Should we just revert back to the beginning of the day, since what I wrote was based on analyzing the satellite data? Hurricanehink 03:38, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

- I don't know. Maybe you should ask an admin or ask at the helpdesk, or just read up on the original-research policy. At a minimum you can keep the text on a talk or user page. Jdorje 04:09, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

- I asked NSLE, the hurricane admin. Hopefully he'll resolve it. Hurricanehink 12:41, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

- OK. They were removed, and hopefully this sort of problem won't happen again. I moved them to a subpage of mine located here. Hurricanehink 16:19, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

- Heh, but now the article is just a stub! Are there any real sources to be found for this article? Those images you had were really striking, and it would be nice to have an excuse to bring them back. Jdorje 21:33, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

- Bad news about the images. Two of them from 1992, the Spain cane and the one south of Italy, were fakes. They were the result of a mis-projection of the satellite system. The summaries are still in my subpage two posts up. About sources? I seriously doubt it, but you never know. Hurricanehink 22:14, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- I fell victim to that as well. They were Bonnie and Charley. Thegreatdr 18:37, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] October 1996 system
To me, that looks nontropical and like an attempt at an occluded cyclone. Where's the central convection? The others currently on the page look like reasonable additions. Thegreatdr 18:38, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know, but the site said it resembled a hurricane... Hurricanehink (talk) 20:58, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A possible Mediterranean storm right now?
Earlier today, there was a frontal low in the southern Mediterranean Sea. See here for a visible pic, and here for a broader view. It was likely extratropical, but given the near total lack of activity for the area, I think it's pretty cool. Hurricanehink 00:44, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- Very neat. I concur! Dr U 01:20, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
