Medicine Lake is a town in Sheridan County, Montana, United States. The population was 269 at the 2000 census. It is the location of the highest temperature ever recorded in Montana which was 117 on July 5, 1937.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 269 people, 120 households, and 72 families residing in the town. The population density was 253.3/km² (658.8/mi²). There were 165 housing units at an average density of 155.4/km² (404.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 92.19% White, 3.72% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.37% Pacific Islander, and 3.35% from two or more races.
There were 120 households out of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.0% were non-families. 40.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 2.97.
In the town the population was spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 22.3% from 25 to 44, 28.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 116.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.4 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $28,750, and the median income for a family was $35,694. Males had a median income of $26,000 versus $26,250 for females. The per capita income for the town was $16,405. About 7.2% of families and 7.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.5% of those under the age of eighteen and 3.4% of those sixty five or over.
