Medibank

Medibank was the name given to Australia's system of universal health insurance when it was first created by Gough Whitlam's Australian Labor Party government in 1975. It was partly demolished by the Fraser Liberal government in 1976, with the Medibank Private health insurance company being created. It was superseded by the Hawke Labor's government's Medicare programme in 1983.
