Media Lab Helsinki

The Media Lab is the school of digital design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. It was founded 1994. Year 2003 The Ministry of Education Finland chose Media Lab as one of the national top educational units. The Media Lab is part of an active ICT and digital cultures scene in Greater Helsinki.
Media Centre Lume - the National Research and Development Center of audiovisual media is also located in the university and offers it's resources to Media Lab. Experimental and interactive video productions are common in the Media Lab.
There are four research groups inside the Media Lab:
- ARKI research group
- The Learning Environments for Progressive Inquiry research group
- The Systems of Representation group
- Crucible Studio

Media Lab offers Master of Arts and PhD programmes. English is the language of tuition, and roughly 1/3 of students are foreigners.
