Medford is a town in Piscataquis County, Maine, United States. The population was 231 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 111.7 km² (43.1 mi²). 109.8 km² (42.4 mi²) of it is land and 1.9 km² (0.8 mi²) of it (1.74%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 231 people, 88 households, and 69 families residing in the town. The population density was 2.1/km² (5.4/mi²). There were 135 housing units at an average density of 1.2/km² (3.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.57% White, and 0.43% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.43% of the population.
There were 88 households out of which 38.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.2% were married couples living together, 4.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.5% were non-families. 19.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 2.91.
In the town the population was spread out with 22.1% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 37.2% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 124.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 114.3 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $28,750, and the median income for a family was $30,000. Males had a median income of $21,667 versus $26,250 for females. The per capita income for the town was $12,609. About 10.0% of families and 15.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 31.7% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those sixty five or over.
