Meddiebempsters
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Meddiebempsters, commonly known as the "Meddies," is an all-male a cappella singing group at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. The group was started in 1937, making it the third-oldest college a cappella group in the country, according to its Web site.[[1]] The Meddies gained nationwide fame during World War II, when the group performed overseas at a number of USO shows.[citation needed] The group has produced several albums, most recently "Meddillenium" (2004) and "Princes of Maine" (2006). Originally a quartet, the Meddies have since expanded; there are currently twelve members in the group.
[edit] Touring
In January 2006, the Meddies toured South Korea and performed on the Seoul Broadcasting System's television program, "Music Wave," a rough equivalent to the United States' "American Bandstand." The Meddies were also featured on the Christian Global Network, performing at Korea's Onnuri Church.[2] The group currently tours colleges all over the country, and also performs at Bowdoin functions and local benefits.
