Mechif

Mechif, Metchif, or Métchif is an alternative name of the Métis people of Canada. It apparently comes from a regional French pronunciation of Métif, a variant of Métis.

Mechif (Metchif, Métchif) is also an alternative name for Michif (Mitchif), the language of the Métis.
