A Meatwagon is a British slang term used for a police van. It is considered insulting by many police officers.

The term "Meatwagon" has come into use fairly recently. It is thought to be derived from the slang word for police to be "pigs," and that it is common for large numbers of policemen to be held in these vehicles, hence the name Meatwagon.
In the Chapeltown area of Leeds, the use of "Meatvan" or "Meatwagon" is always used for a police van.
