Purewa Cemetery, one of central Auckland's largest cemeteries, is situated in Meadowbank and can be accessed from St John's Road. St John's College and Trinity Theological College are also located on St John's Road.

Meadowbank is becoming a more popular suburb in Auckland for families. It is located near Meadowbank School, one of Auckland's top primary schools.

The famous New Zealand brothers Richard, Robert, and Andrew Law spent their childhoods in this suburb at a house located at 112 Gowing Drive.
