Mečislovas Reinys

Mečislovas Reinys born (February 5, 1884) was the archbishop of the Vilnius, Minsk and Mogiliov diocese.

Mečislovas Reinys, an archbishop and an active churchman, was born in the Madagaskaras farm, in the Zarasai region.

1909 he graduated from the St. Petersburg seminary.

1909-1914 he studied in the Universities of Leven, Strasbourg.

1912 he maintained the thesis in philosophy.

1916-1922 Mečislovas Reinys was a lecturer in the Vilnius University and during 1922-1924 in the Kaunas seminary.

1925-1926 he was a minister of the Foreign Affairs.

1926 he was consecrated for a bishop.

1947 he was accused of anti-Soviet activities, put into prison, where he died in 1953.

Mečislovas Reinys published works on psychology, pedagogy, theology and ethics.
