McNaspy Stadium

McNaspy Stadium was built on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (then called the University of Southwestern Louisiana) in 1940. It was named for the first athletic director and football coach at the university, Clement "C.J" McNaspy. The Camellia Bowl was held there in 1948.

Replaced by a newer facility called Cajun Field, the stadium was demolished in 2000 with a new structure that will house the computer sciences department set to open in 2007. The original dirt track that encircled McNaspy Field remains as a reminder of this university landmark.

Currently, McNaspy Field is being used for pratice by the University of Louisiana Marching Band as a temporary replacement to Hamilton Field, where a parking garage is under construction.
