McLaren Racing

McLaren Racing is the member company of the McLaren Group that controls Team McLaren Mercedes, a racing team and Formula One constructor.
It is one of the big three teams of modern day Formula One motor racing (Ferrari and Renault being the other two). Along with Ferrari and Williams, McLaren have won 11 drivers championships since 1974. McLaren World Champion drivers have been Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt, Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna and Mika Häkkinen.
McLaren first introduced the carbonfibre monocoque to Formula One in the early 1980s which revolutionised the cars by making them stronger, stiffer and lighter and therefore faster.
McLaren won 15 of 16 races in the 1988 season.
