McGriddle

The McGriddle is the brand name for a breakfast sandwich available at McDonald's in Canada and the United States. All McGriddle sandwiches feature "griddle cakes" as the baked product that holds it together. These are similar to small pancakes that have a helping of maple-flavored syrup applied to the inside. The top of the griddle cake has the McDonald's "M" logo extruded.
The McGriddle was first introduced in McDonald chains in 1998. It was at this time that McGriddle Technology was submitted to the US Patent Office and approved for distribution. It is unknown if other similar breakfast sandwich research is being conducted by McDonald's fierce list of competitors.
The McGriddle is considered one of the least healthy foods at McDonalds, particularly because of its high fat content.
There are three configurations of the McGriddle:
- breakfast sausage (37 grams of fat)
- breakfast sausage, folded scrambled egg and american cheese (58 grams of fat)
- bacon, egg, and cheese. (55 grams of fat)
