Mayura (film)

Mayura is an Indian film from 1975. It is one of the most popular films of Dr Rajkumar where he has played as Mayurverma of Kadamba dynasty of Banavasi at Uttara Kannada.
Mayurverma a pure brahmin who went to the University of Kanchi in those days famous as centre of education take get imparted with Vedas, Upanishadas etc.
Pallava King Shivaskandavarma was preparing for Ashwamedh Yagya. But he got angry with the Pallavas of Kanchi for thier being rude and ruthless. He made an army of the forest dwelling people and waged gurilla warfare on pallavas and acceded them to his empire.
Mayurvarma was the expression of the first Kannada language and culture brought to the mainstream otherwise before that Sanskrit and Prakrit languages were in currency. Mayurvarma was the first powerful king of South India on whom kannada and its culture has pride over.
