Mayobridge

Mayobridge (in Irish: Droichead Maigh Eo, ie Bridge at the plain of yew trees) is a small village in County Down, Northern Ireland. It lies 5 miles from Newry and 6 miles from Warrenpoint. It had a population of 842 people in the 2001 Census. It lies within the Newry and Mourne District Council area.
The old houses of the village are centred around Gorman’s pub and a shop, but the village is expanding, with many new private houses being built on its outskirts including a chippy and O'Hare's petrol station.

St Patricks Gaelic Athletic Club, Mayobridge is the oldest Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Down. They also have the best senior team in Ireland according to the Croke Park GAA committee

Mayobridge is classified as a small village or hamlet by the NI Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) (ie with population between 500 and 1,000 people). On Census day (29 April 2001) there were 842 people living in Mayobridge. Of these:
- 25.9% were aged under 16 years and 11.3% were aged 60 and over
- 53.9% of the population were male and 46.1% were female
- 97.5% were from a Catholic background and 2.0% were from a Protestant background
- 5.8% of people aged 16-74 were unemployed.
