Mayang is the ancient seat of sorcery and the occult in Assam. It's identity as the traditional centre of the weird and supernatural is the stuff of legends.
A unique feature of Mayang has been the presence of a number of temples and shrines within a small area that include the Narasingha Ashram, Ganesh temple of Hatimuria, Bhagavati and Lakshmi temple, Shildubi Namghar, Daipara Misamari Satra, Garabandha and Gauranga temples, Roja Mayong Harimandir and Thargaon Shivamandir.
