Mayan Island

A fictional island in the Macross universe. Located somewhere in the south pacific. Its inhabitants (who apparently speak French) maintain a simple life style and have a strong hold to their shamanistic traditions centered around ancient ruins and artifacts. Unbeknownst to them, these ruins are in fact the relics of the ancient space faring race known as the Protoculture and holds great power. A fact that embroils them in U.N. Wars against their will.
