Maxillopoda is a class of crustaceans, characterised by a reduction of the abdomen and its appendages. The most species-rich groups are the barnacles and copepods.

The head is made up of 5 (five) segments, the thorax 6 (six) segments and the abdomen 4 (four) segments, as well as a telson. There are no appendages on the abdomen.
