MaxiVista
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
MaxiVista is the trademark for a dual monitor software which allows using a laptop or tablet pc computer display to increase the viewing space of another computer.
[edit] Concept
MaxiVista installs a virtual video adapter device driver onto the primary PC which fools the operating system into thinking that an additional computer display is installed. Modern operating systems such as Windows XP then activate the built-in multi-monitor capabilities and creates a bigger desktop space. The content of this extra desktop space is transmitted to the secondary PC via a standard computer network connection and displayed by a small viewer program.
Program windows can be spread over both displays to avoid switching back and forth between overlapping applications.
The software overcomes the limitation that computers do not have computer display inputs, and thus normally cannot be used as a monitor.
[edit] Software KVM
Since version 2 MaxiVista also allows operating up to four computers from one single mouse and keyboard. The mouse cursor can seamlessy move across all monitors. Any keyboard input is processed on the computer where the mouse cursor is currently located. The clipboard contents are also synchronized on all computers.
