Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Physiology

The Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Physiology is located in Seewiesen, Germany. A working group was founded in 1954 by Erich von Horst and Konrad Lorenz at the Max Planck Institute for Oceanic biology in Wilhelmshaven. 1957 it moved into new buildings in Seewiesen. After working from 1951 to 1965 Irenaeus Eibl-Eibesfeldt got director of the institute 1975. It became an independent Institute 1987. In 1997 it was decided to close the institute, while a part of it will survive as Max Planck Institute for Ornitology. It is one of 80 institutes in the Max Planck Society (Max Planck Gesellschaft).
