Mawr is both an electoral ward and a community of the City and County of Swansea, South Wales. Mawr has its own elected community council.
The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following areas: Felindre, Craigcefnparc, Garnswllt, Rhydypandy and rural uplands of Mawr, in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. The area of the ward is one of the most sparsely populated in Swansea but it has the highest proportion of Welsh language speakers. Mawr is the second largest ward in Swansea by land area. It is bounded by Pontarddulais to the west, Llangyfelach and Morriston to the south, and Clydach to the east. Most of the ward comprises rural farmland.
