[edit] Revert?
Why was the material I added removed indiscriminantly? I can provide sources to back up my information. What is currently in the article is both incorrect and incomplete. --Boco XLVII 13:36, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
- Sigma and the Sigma Virus are the same entity. I've read that and seen that on www.planet-megaman.com and www.megaman-network.com. Change the other stuff you did if you want to, but leave the Sigma virus info the same. --EisenKnoechel 13:40, May 18, 2005 (UTC)

- Sigma is a virus, but the virus in X5 is not Sigma. Anyway did you actually read what I had written? --Boco XLVII 13:47, 18 May 2005 (UTC)

- Excuse me. I must have missread some of the info. I've restored your article. But I still stand by that Sigma and the Sigma Virus are the same entity. The original Maverick Virus is a separate entity, though. Same with the Colony and Zero Viruses. --EisenKnoechel 13:57, May 18, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Virus activity
Aside from Eagleed and Hyakulegger in X1 and X2 respectively, where are there cases of infected Repliroids? Also, I don't remember any in X4. I'm going to check a few places to make sure but I won't touch the claim that the virus is active in the first four games for now. --Boco XLVII 20:35, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
In Mega Man X4, Cyber Peacock and Split Mushroom are both Mavericks, both probably infected. It is also possible that Magma Dragoon was infested, but it's not confirmed. All other bosses, except Double and Sigma, in X4 are members of the Repliforce and are not technically Mavericks. --EisenKnoechel 04:34, May 19, 2005 (UTC)
I looked up some info on www.megaman-network.com[1] that has an (unofficial) opinion of the Maverick Virus and an (unofficial) list of Mavericks that were/weren't infected. I'll display their list here for reference.

Hope that helps you Boco XLVII. --EisenKnoechel 04:45, May 19, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Capitalization
Per WP:NC it appears this article should be at Maverick virus rather than Maverick Virus. If the editors here agree, perhaps it should be listed on Wikipedia:Requested moves. Dystopos 15:38, 26 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Copywrited Material
I reverted the copywrited article added by MegamanZero back to the article before he edited the page. The material he wrote was entirely plagiarized from www.megaman-network.com[2] and he also completely erased mine, Boco XLVII, and other peoples’ hard work on this article. Please do not use copywrited material in these articles unless it follows the doctrine of fair use and do not completely erase parts of an article without first talking about it on this talk page. --EisenKnoechel 09:27, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Supra-Force Metal
Under the heading of Other Viruses, Supra-Force Metal was listed. This is incorrect. Neither Force Metal or even the Supra-Force Metal were viral in any form. They actually emitted a type of energy/radiation that interfered with the inner workings of Reploids. If the energy level was high enough (Erosion in the game) the reploid would feel the ill effects of the Force Metals.
[edit] Origin
I was reading something that the energy Wily found was called 'Justice Energy', rather than 'Evil Energy'. --Reploidof20xx (talk) 09:26, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RZCW "Revelations"
I feel that this section is filled with too much unneeded theorizing. It's important to note what RZCW actually said on the subject:
First off, it was under the section: "The 3 keys to understanding Zero and Omega" and in that section it was specifically said that these ideas were part of the conceptualization of RockmanZero and might not reflect the final product.
RZCW states that the "true essence" of Sigma Virus was a "Kunoukairo." Kunou being suffering, distress, affliction, anguish, agony. Kairo being Circuit (electric). It's what all Rockman series use to refer to the mind of robots/navis. In regard to this, the term circuit is misleading as it's not really a solid object. Program wouldn't be accurate either. The best description would be "Programming that induces agony."
Furthermore, it states the Kunoukairo was included with X when Right made him. Ofcourse this is true, Kunoukairo was directly shown in IHX as the source of X's Limitless Potential. It states X thinks more deeply than other Repliroids due to his constant worrying. The game states X has Kunoukaira. The game also states Repliroids have Kunoukaira, the ability to worry, but to a lesser extent than X. What Kunoukairo is, is the ability to choose right and wrong for oneself, as noted by Right in Power Battles, it is X's free will, what makes him so much like a human being. Since Repliroids are the robots designed to be like humans and have free will, they have Kunoukairo. Z4 even states it was their humanity that caused wars throughout history. What the book effectively states is that Sigma Virus' true essence is taking advantage of a Repliroid's free will and makes them continously distress wether they side with humans or Reploids in affairs to the point that inclined toward neither.
Reitterating, it never implies Wily did not make the Virus. It merely implied a key aspect of the Virus' corrupting force comes from X and Right. This is natural, as even biological viruses share DNA traits with the host they are capable of infecting.
How Kunoukairo got into Zero is never specified. But the book says Zero was the first infected because he was designed by Wily to be a completely evil robot. It however also states that despite being infected, it did not turn him into an Irregular, it turned him into a virtuous Repliroid. It states not that thanks to the Virus Zero became good, but regardless of its presence, Zero became good. RZCW also makes vague usage of the term Sigma Virus, using it to refer to all Viruses as a whole. This follows the plot of RmX5, where it's explained that since the Virus from Zero became like Sigma, it's abilities to awaken Zero had decreased. Though Sigma Virus purifies his body, only in high concentrations does it awaken Zero. These concentrations were incapable of being achieved, thus Eurasia was used and Sigma and Colony Viruses merged to become Zero Virus. Zero Virus' ability to awaken Zero being much higher than that of the Sigma Virus.
The book implies what X4 showed and X8 confirmed. The Virus transferred to Sigma and became henceforth known as Sigma Virus. Most of the Virus was gone and Zero was left with measly fragments that were not noticable at all since Zero was meant to function normally with the Virus. These fragments were enough to infect others over time and cause Zero to admit himself for research, they were not enough to awaken Zero.
With the Virus mostly gone, Zero became good. He began to make use of the AI Zero was seemingly designed with, but was overwritten by the Virus. Cain did not tamper with Zero's mind. As Cyber Mission stated, Zero's was repaired, and for some reason when he woke up, he showed no sign of Irregular Behaviour. To imply Zero's advanced mind came from Cain is downright ludicrous as any revival by Wily and Wily Avatars make use of Zero's "Control Chip." Such would not be a required if it was Cain built. What the games imply is that Control Chip was made by Wily as very advanced AI, derivative from Right's Kunoukaira. Zero was effectively designed with free will. But Wily overwrote said free will using the Virus.
On that note. In Power Fighters, japanese, Wily does not refer to "the other project." he mentions Fortenium as strongest energy, but not anymore. And he also implies he learned from the mistakes of Forte's betrayals and incapability of defeating Rockman (Lacking heart.) He then shows Zero and states, with this robot, and "that" complete, the world would be his.
To finally reitterate. The book says:
"The Sigma Virus is the terror that makes Repliroids into Irregulars. Its true essence was a "kunoukairo" included when Dr. Right created X. Within a society where humans and Reploids lived together, Reploids with the "kunoukairo" continually distressed whether they should side with humans or Reploids in affairs, to the point they were inclined toward neither. Though Zero was the first Reploid to be infected with the Sigma Virus, since he was created by Dr. Wily to be a completely evil Reploid, being infected with the Sigma Virus did not turn him into an Irregular and instead transformed him into a virtuous Reploid. However, To accomplish his missions as an Irregular Hunter, Zero embarked to various places and he ended up scattering the Sigma Virus lurking within his body around the world, in this way beckoning an ironic result. And so and being a carrier of the Sigma Virus caused Zero to admit himself into a research institute. "
All in all, the book is purposely vague. But all of it is concept and it is not meant to retcon what we know. It's merely an explanation of what appears in the games, the gaps to this should be filled by the games.
