Mauricio Pellegrino

Mauricio Andrés Pellegrino (born October 5, 1971 in Leones, Argentina) is a former Argentine footballer.
A commanding stalwart that helped Valencia to the 2003/2004 Spanish First Division title and UEFA Cup, Pellegrino is an experienced defender who is highly respected. However, he was frozen out by then-Valencia manager Claudio Ranieri, and consequently joined his former boss (and Ranieri's predecessor) Rafael Benítez at Liverpool F.C. on a free transfer, signing a six-month contract in January 2005. At the end of this contract, he was allowed to join Alavés.
