Maung Maung Kha

U Maung Maung Kha (192030 April 1995, Rangoon) was a Burmese politician. From 29 March 1977 to 26 July 1988 he was Prime Minister of Myanmar, then known as Burma.

During the Japanese occupation of Burma (1942-1945) he completed military training and became a member of the Armed Forces.

Following the 1962 coup d'etat by General Ne Win political power was transferred to the Revolutionary Council, and Colonel Maung Maung Kha became Secretary of the Ministry of Industry. On 23 September 1972 he was appointed Minister of Industry in the Cabinet. Following the establishment of the Socialist Republic of the Union of Burma (SRUB) on 4 January 1974 and adoption of a new Constitution, Ne Win resigned as Prime Minister on 4 March, (becoming President of the SRUB), and was replaced by Brigadier General Sein Lwin. On 29 March 1977 Maung Maung Kha replaced Sein Lwin.

After increasing unrest in the country, on 26 July 1988 Maung Maung Kha was replaced by Tun Tin as Prime Minister.
