[edit] Euler integration

こんいちわ, (I only know a few words, so don't reply in Japanese!)

Also a warm welcome from me, and thank you for your contributions at Euler integration and Verlet integration. As you probably know, these methods are not only used in molecular dynamics, but also in other application in which one needs to solve differential equations. Is there any deep reason why you restricted the article on Euler integration to MD, or is this just the fields you are most familiar with? I think it would be nice to change the article so that it covers more applications. By the way, I'm surprised that the (local) error of the Verlet integrator is of order four. In the general case, Verlet is of order three, but perhaps the order raises to four in dynamics when the equations are of the form x'' = f(x).

Yeah, I think it is because of the form of the equations. It is just one of those things where it seems particularly suited to molecular dynamics. Much more so than Runge-Kutta. Actually, I don't really understand why anyone would bother with Runge-Kutta in MD. It seems like over-complication for no particular benefit.Mattopia 08:16, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

I hope to see more contributions from you. Please feel free to ask me any questions on my talk page.

PS: Since you are interested in physics and maths, you might want to check out the corresponding Wikipedia:WikiProject Physics and Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics. These are just places where physicists and mathematicians meet and discuss Wikipedia articles on their field. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 18:33, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] ta-C

Hey Mattopia, I just noticed your edits on Diamond-like carbon. Just out of curiosity, are you in the ta-C research bussiness? --Dschwen 19:32, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I did some research on ta-C way back in uni. But I don't have anything to do with it these days. Mattopia 03:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Helo Mattopia, Can you read Molecular Dynamics article discussion and let me know your ideas about spliting the articles cheers --mcyp 09:03, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
