Matthew Keys (5 February 1987 - present) is a 19-year-old blogger, student journalist and podcast DJ from Vacaville, California (United States). Born in Sacramento, California, Matthew moved between Sacramento and Vacaville until the age of 10. Matthew then moved to Kitzingen, Germany in 1997 when his stepfather, Frank Jones, entered the United States Army. While in Germany, Matthew began work on his passion and future career in broadcasting by being one of a few students dedicated to the television and newspaper programs at his middle school.
In May 2001, Matthew and his family left Germany for Fort Bliss, a US Army base in the metropolitan city of El Paso, Texas. While in El Paso, Matthew continued his work towards his career in journalism. He attended Captain John L. Chapin High School, where he was actively involved in the school's newspaper and broadcasting journalism programs, forensics (speech and debate), theatre, Christian fellowship programs and other activities. Matthew graduated from Chapin High School on 2 June 2005. He graduated among the school's second graduating class (the school opened in 2000 with freshmen only, and allowed a new grade to enter every year thereafter).
On 7 June 2005, Matthew left El Paso for Vacaville once again. While in Vacaville, Matthew has taken an active role in covering stories involving Cindy Sheehan (often called the "Peace Mom" who takes residency in Vacaville), former Xanga blogger David G. Ludwig, who was one of Matthew's blogging acquaintances and the recent floodings in Northern California (a now defunct blog is where most of Matthew's junior reporting came from).
Recently, Matthew became a reporter for Wikinews, a little-sister journalistic project from Wikipedia.
