User:Matchups
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I use Matchups as a username all over the place, including my domain www.matchups.com which is fairly out-of-date. The original source was a Scrabble newsletter I edited, which was an ironic comment on "matchups" not being in the official dictionary.
My main interest (from the Wiki point of view at least) is games, and bridge and Scrabble in particular. As a newbie, I've found that watching my birthday page is an interesting view into Wikipedia politics.
As of late November, 2006, I have about 825edits, though most are small.
[edit] To-dos
- Work on bridge articles
- Last name pointers & disambiguation
- Convention articles
- Add pages for Obie graduates Oren Rudavsky and Sarah Pirtle
- Find more documentation on wiki markup, or create it if necessary
- Add more userboxes to this page
- Add a few entries, more detail to List of titles of works based on Shakespearean phrases
[edit] Wikiphilosophy
I consider myself an encyclopedist, similar to what WP would classify as a Delusionist. In general, if there is information for which members of the general public would tend to go to an encyclopedia, it should be in WP. If it is information which one would expect to find in a telephone directory, almanac, yearbook, annual report, or other specialized reference, or if it is not of interest to the general public, then it should not be here.
[edit] Friends
There are (or should be) Wikipedia articles on several friends and acquaintances of mine. Not to drop names, but just so you know where my biases may lie:
- Eric Albert
- Bob Blue
- Libby Frank
- Oberlin
- Ken Olum
- Jim Propp
- Oren Rudavsky
- Stephen Zunes
