[edit] Suggested merge discussion

Continuing from the discussion on Talk:Mathematics education, I'd like to point out that the only qualm I have about this article is that, in the future, a mathematics student from Tuvalu might log in. Seeing no article about math in her country, but Mathematics education in Australia, she then creates an article called Mathemetics education in Tuvalu. That strikes me as namespace clutter. I just think this article would do better either (a) as a larger part of Mathematics education or (b) as a more generally-titled article Mathematics curricula. Then one could put headings for each country and outline the individual courses without cluttering the global namespace, which is really what I (personally) would like to see. That's just my two cents, and I probably will not AfD it. --JStalk 20:09, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

My ideal for this article (not that I will attempt to implement it) is that it become verified, longer, and more than just a curriculum listing. For example, Mathematics education in New York is already too long to merge, and it just covers high school in one state. I think mathematics education in Autralia also has the potential to support an article that doesn't need to be merged or deleted. That said, if it goes too long with its {{not verified}} tag, I'll AfD it myself; that tag shouldn't be a permanent fixture anywhere.
As for clutter, it wouldn't be unprecedented. Category:Categories by country is already overflowing, and it leads us to such unexpected gems as Postage stamps and postal history of Transnistria. I'd be much more interested in Mathemetics education in Tuvalu! Melchoir 20:36, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
