Mattias Olsson ( born 9th of January 1975 in Hong Kong by Swedish parents) started his career as a classical percussionist playing in orchestras and big bands on Ekerö outside of Stockholm. When he was 17 he joined progressive rockband Änglagård. Änglagård recorded two studio albums, Hybris and Epilog. They also recorded a live album called Buried Alive. The title was a joke from Mattias, the worst title for a live album must be ...Buried Alive. During his progyears he also did some sessions with White Willow and Pär Lindh.
After Änglagård he joined swedish popband Pineforest Crunch who has so far recorded three albums. Make Believe, Watergarden and Panamarenko. The band had a hit from the first album, Cup Noodle Song. The single was a hit in Sweden and Japan which lead to intensive touring and goldalbums. The second album Watergarden was recorded in England with Radiohead producer Jim Warren. Watergarden was more experimental than the debut and mixed orchestral textures with mellotrons and experimental guitars. The album was killed by swedish critics. Paralell with Pineforest Crunch he started playing drums and occasional keyboards with Reminder. A popband with experimental tendencies in a post O.K Computer way.
He has since then played in numerous projects and constellations. He is now more active as a record producer and idea man on albums. He has recorded albums with Deadwood Forest, Devi, Clockwork, AK-momo, Nanook of the North, Vijaya et.c He runs his own Roth Händle studio outside of Stockholm.link title.
The Roth Händle studio has one of the worlds oddest collections of musical artefacts from claviolines, pipeorgans and Stylophones to Mellotrons,Orchestrons and Talentmakers.
